Gardener’s House Visit June 2026

What an exciting day we had Visiting Daisy at the Gardener’s House in Morrab gardens!

Write up from Lily:

We had a lovely walk down and where we where greeted by Daisy who was waiting for use with a beautiful fruit platter and some water. The children sat down and started to eat their snack. They all loved the fruit and some of the children had never had grapefruit before and gave it a good go! It was quiet sour and the children where pulling some funny faces but they all tried some. We explored a book whilst we where eating our snack, we talked about things to look our for around the garden. We then set off for our walk around the gardens and found lots of different herbs that they were growing, which the children loved to smell, there was even a flower that smelled of chocolate! We went down to the pond where we found some beautiful coy fish. There were so many of them with a variety of size and colours. We found some massive leaves that the children described as very rough and prickly. We found lots of different tree that had lots of different textures like “fluffy” and “smooth” and one even sounded like the drums when we tapped it. We found some beautiful flowers that were a variety of colours and some where even the same size of the children’s heads! There was lots of wildlife around the garden. We got to see lots different kinds of birds and even a group of bees which had turned a bird house into their home! On our walk we collected lots of materials that had fallen of the trees and put them into a bag to bring back to nursery to use in our play. We then had the long walk back to nursery with some very hungry and tired children who all powered through it. Well done everyone!
