We offer quality learning experiences for children.
Our Early 3’s children (2 and 3 year olds) had a wonderful time exploring the sights and smells as they chose their vegetables from Thornes fruit and vegetable shop for their cooking activity . We started by walking from the nursery through the town to the shops. The children talked about road safety along the way and spotted lots of signs of winter and the stormy weather.
The children were excited to spot the shop and then worked together to find the ingredients on their shopping list. They worked together to carry the heavy shopping basket and they commented how it was getting heavier with each item they placed in it, they also took turns having a go at this very important job!
There were lots of opportunities for developing our maths skills as we talked about weight, money and counting the vegetables. There are numbers everywhere in the shop! The children love spotting the numerals that represent their ages, so there was lots of “Look number 2!” and “Look I’m 3! That’s my number!” Brilliant observational skills children.
The children even spotted that the milk in the fridges was the same as our Trink milk that we enjoy at nursery!
The children counted the vegetables and did one final check that they had ticked everything off their shopping list, and went to pay for their items before walking back to nursery to start cooking.
Great teamwork Early 3’s!
Looking for our Broccoli, Pepper and Potatoes!
Selecting the freshest looking brocolli and discussing the weight as we placed it in to the basket.

We took turns carrying the shopping basket.
We counted the vegetables we had chosen!
We were very proud of ourselves once we selected all the items on our shopping list!
We then spotted something familiar to us – Trink milk! We love our trink milk at nursery and the children recognised the label.
Finally we went to the checkout till to pay for our vegetables and took them back to nursery to start making our vegetable bites! See your app for the ingresdients and recipe list! We used our duck eggs to bind the mixture together and they were DELICIOUS!
