Our Visit to Newlyn School

We would like to say an enormous thank you to Newlyn School for inviting us for the third year to visit their forest school. This is such a valuable part of our transition plans for our Pre School cohort each year. This exciting visit to the school builds the foundations of all of our conversations to support children to understand what it means ‘to go to school’ and to talk positively and enthusiastically about their new upcoming adventures.

Trip overview: The children were absolutely fantastic, their behaviour and engagement with the activities was exceptional. The minibus ride to the school was very exciting. When we arrived we started by listening to the stickman story which was read by the reception teacher Mr Budgen, he read the story with brilliant voices for the characters that the children found very funny! We explored the forest school area and found our own stickmen before we then toasted marshmallows on the campfire and enjoyed a hot chocolate with Mr Hickman their forest school lead. After this the children each had a lump of clay that they used to create nature faces or used natural materials to imprint on the clay. We had an explore on the pirate ship climbing area and a race on the field before going in to the school canteen for our lunch! I would like to say an enormous thank you to our parent helpers and a huge well done to the children. Each of them has a Newlyn school badge to bring home and a certificate from the school plus a stickman! Just a few photos below, all others shared on your EY Parent app – check out the news feed and individual observations.
