Bird Feeder Workshop at The Gardener’s House

We had a brilliant visit to The Gardeners House this morning.

When we arrived at The Gardeners House we enjoyed a yummy snack plate of fruit and had a drink of water to rehydrate after our walk. We had a look at what bird feeders we were going to be making and explored some pictures of different birds. Daisy brought in some frogs spawn for us to look at before starting on our bird feeders.

We started with some twigs and threading different things onto them. We used cheerios, pretzels & dried apple to thread onto our twigs, it was tricky to find the right size twig for the cheerios! We stirred some seeds and oatmeal into some lard to make some fat balls for the birds to enjoy.

Daisy tied our bird feeders up so we could add our fat balls and some fluff for the birds to use for their nests. We all practised our brilliant mark making to add a label message for the birds. We then made our way back to nursery, it was a long walk up the hill!

We hung our bird feeders up when we arrived back, they are hanging at the front of the nursery for the birds to enjoy.
