Maria the Dentist visited us for Oral Hygiene Day!

Today we welcomed Maria the dentist to come and visit the children. Maria visits us every year on Oral Hygiene day to show the children how relaxed and lovely it is to meet a dentist.

Maria wears her uniform and shows the children what it looks like when someone wears a mask. Some of the children tried on a mask too (they had individual masks)

Maria then spoke to the children about brushing their teeth twice a day and for two minutes. Afterwards they explored an activity about foods that are healthy for our teeth and foods to have ‘sometimes’ and brush our teeth afterwards. Maria had a great top tip for healthy yoghurt, she suggested using natural yoghurt which doesn’t have the huge amount of sugar as flavoured yoghurts, and adding fresh fruit to the yoghurt! Delicious!

She explained to the children that when we water plants they grow healthy and strong, when we drink water we also grow healthy and strong!

The older children looked at what our teeth look like and how many teeth we have too. The younger children showed us their super brushing skills with the giant toy teeth. All of the children were given a sticker for meeting Maria the dentist at Nursery and they were all gifted a dentist pack with an age appropriate toothbrush and more stickers to show at home.

We also sang a brilliant song – this is the way we brush our teeth! (To the tune of ‘here we go round the mulberry bush)

We’d like to say an enormous thank you to Maria!
