We offer quality learning experiences for children.
Bolitho Nursery is part of Healthy Under 5’s to promote and encourage healthy lifestyles from an early age.
Healthy Under 5s is designed to celebrate topics that providers may already be championing and explore new areas that could be included:
We will regularly share information and guidance for the above topics via email and incorporate the topics within the children’s play.
We have a wide selection of leaflets that are available for families to pick up.
In the Autumn Term 2019 we achieved our FULL accrediation for all areas!
All Children are offered a drink of milk or water at snack times.
We ask families to provide a healthy snack of fruit or vegetables for morning and afternoon snack.
Morning snack is around 10am and afternoon snack at approximately 3:15pm.
The government’s free milk scheme for nursery children is fulfilled using milk from Trink Dairy – a local farm just outside St Ives.
At Trink, the Knowles family produce milk from grass-fed Friesian and Jersey cows; due to the way the cows are fed and cared for they produce milk rich in Omega-3 fats and vitamin E – this helps to boost immune systems, a clear benefit for children of nursery age.
We are really pleased to be working with Trink and are using the connection as a way of talking to our children about where our food comes from, and the importance of maintaining a healthy diet. We’ve have been lucky enough to take children to visit the farm and watch the milking and hope to plan more visits in the future.
Healthy lifestyles are promoted from an early age; from our Baby Room through to our Pre School room.
Children enjoy a range of activities such as:
Fun Fit Sessions
Healthy Movers Sessions
Workshops with The A is for Apple Project
Wow! We love Healthy Movers! Our Toddlers and Pre School children have shown some incredible listening and understanding during their healthy movers sessions.
Each fortnight they have followed a new activity card coupled with a book, song and music and movement session. The children’s engagement has been astonishing! We are very proud of them.
Healthy Movers supports early years practitioners and families to develop the competence and confidence to ensure every child is physically literate. We were very lucky to be selected as part of the Early Years Pilot Team in 2019 to train a Healthy Movers leader in our settings alongside our Manager. The training course was fantastic and has shaped our music and movement sessions for children across our Toddler and Pre School rooms.
Healthy Movers enables settings to incorporate physical activity into every day and engage parents on the importance of healthy active lifestyles and their contribution to a child’s development.
It’s been lovely to hear children as young as our toddlers say ‘Is it Healthy Movers time yet?’!
