Play and Learning in our duck garden!
It has been a joy to see the children embracing our new garden area this Autumn Term. There has been so much play and learning taking place. The children have shown oodles of curiosity and interest in the natural environment and also with the activities that staff have provided. The conversation and teamwork between the children is also fantastic to see.
Here is a taster of our play and learning in the duck garden this term, from all age groups.
We have been….
- ‘Cooking’ in our mud kitchen, which includes lifting and manipulating heavy pots and pans and controlling the utensils to mix, stir and scoop.
- Mark making on our painting wall with paint and mud, and exploring texture through creating rubbings.
- Balancing on our wooden see saw and exploring what happens when we move closer to the middle or the outside, or invite other children to join us.
- Caring for our ducks!
- Making music on our music wall using our hands, sticks or metal utensils to create a range of sounds!
- Playing peek a boo, follow the leader and chase!
- Building dens with branches and playing games within them!
- Raking and sweeping up the leaves and jumping and playing in them!
- Creating patterns with leaves and looking at our wooden and printed number lines, counting in a variety of ways, such as how many points we can see on a leaf, or how many leaves we can hold.
- Reading books outdoors!
- AND SO MUCH MORE!
