Celebrating St Piran’s Day.

What a busy day for early threes and pre school today. The pre schoolers took a lovely stroll down to Morrab gardens where they cheered on the local school children dancing in the parade and waved their flags and they were all amazing. While they were at Morrab gardens the early threes took part in pasty making ! The children were fantastic at chopping up the vegetables and rolling out the pastry and were super excited to eat them later on after they had been cooked. In the afternoon we all sat down together talking about our mornings. The pre school children were ecstatic to share what they saw, eg dancers, a band and other children from schools and the early threes shared that we made pasty and the ingredients that we used for them. We all spoke about the Cornish flag and some interesting facts about our history, we spoke about mining and the tale of miners leaving the crust off the pasty which the children found very funny. The children added that they wouldn’t leave the crust, they would rather eat it all instead (we think the miners would have too!). We also spoke a little bit about St Piran and how he arrived here and explored Cornwall and that what we were celebrating today, St Piran. The children have had a lovely day and have been so interested learning about the history of Cornwall and feeling proud of where we live, plus they added how those silly seagulls that like to steal out food, ESPECIALLY OUR PASTIES.
Massive well done to all the children today, you’ve been amazing. (Written by Charleigh)
